Miramar was founded 136 years ago by the landowner Fortunato de La Plaza and it is the administrative headquarters of the General Alvarado district, which includes the city of Miramar itself, as well as the towns of Nicanor Otamendi, Mechongué, Mar del Sur and Centinela del Mar
Miramar is located on the Atlantic coast approximately 450 km from the capital Buenos Aires and less than 50 km from Mar del Plata. The city is one of the few places in Argentina with south-facing beaches
Because there are no busy interstate roads, Miramar is an ideal summer vacation spot for families. There are no traffic lights (because they are not necessary), which follows international, contemporary guidelines for calming urban traffic, thus increasing the quality of life of citizens and tourists
Because it is located by the sea, the temperatures are characterized by the fact that they are not deadly hot in summer and the winters are reasonably tolerably mild
